At the 4th of July meeting a discussion on the weed control. It was mentioned that perhaps dredging should be looked into. So we began a preliminary look at what is involved. Below is a link to the most recent NYS DEC Technical & Operations Guidance Series. As you can see, it is very lengthy and quite costly. This is for very large operations. The DEC does issue permits for smaller projects to individuals for their lake front. You should contact your local DEC for more information regarding the specifics for your site.
Fortunately Charles Freiberger volunteered (thank you Charles) to get information regarding this issue as he has already applied for one. We will continue updating this page as we get more information. This is my first attempt on this issue so do not take what shows here as totally factual and complete. You MUST geyt approval from DEC on any dredging you do and they will require you to obtain a permit.
